Suwanee Grove, pictured from the overlook above the grove. The shot is taken from the knoll halfway between the Generals Hwy and the grove.
These pictures were taken after Suwanee Grove was badly burned in the KNP fire. Damage to the grove was pretty significant. The grove lost most of its largest monarch trees, and the sequoias that were on the outskirts of the grove seem to have suffered a higher casualty rating than those in the middle. On the outlying sections there is nearly complete decimation. Down in the middle of the grove, the percentage loss is less but still very significant. It seems that the largest trees suffered more than the grove's midsize sequoias.
Unfortunately, I have not found any trees sufficiently large in Suwanee grove that I felt the need to measure them.
Below are some pics of the few surviving sequoias amid the general devastation.
