Chimney Tree, Calaveras Grove
The Chimney Tree is 21.2 feet in diameter level at the high side ground, 18.2 feet diameter at chest height, 71 feet in ground circumference, and 140. feet tall. It's a wreck of a formerly large tree right on the trail, horribly tunneled through by fire, burned top to bottom, and broken off short at its top. It is a wonder that this tree is still alive and a testament to the sequoia's durability.
