Lincoln Tree, Calaveras North Grove
The Abraham Lincoln Tree is 65.7 feet circumference at its base, 19.3 feet in diameter level at the high side ground, 15.8 feet diameter at chest height, and 270 feet tall. It was named in 1865 after the assassination of the president and a marble plaque was created and placed on the tree at the time. It hung on the tree for decades and then was removed approximately the turn of the century. I recently noticed it being offered on e-bay and so purchased the plaque to donate it to the big trees museum for display.
