Deer Creek Grove

While not a grove containing any of the largest champion trees, Deer Creek was formerly a fine example of a small sequoia grove. It was the victim of the 2021 Windy Fire, and the sequoias in its environs reportedly took approximately a 50% mortality in the big trees. The devastation is incredible, and having seen it a year after the fire I would agree with the assessment I've heard of a 50% loss of the sequoia trees. It is at least that high by my estimation.
