Volume figures are inclusive of internal hollows from rot or fire damage; however, branch volumes are not included. Some measurements date back as far as Wendell Flint's time. All others have been taken more recently than those.
Ishi Giant was #14 on Flint's Top 40 list. However, it suffered serious damage in the Rough Fire of 2015, and subsequently its top remaining section fell.
Washington and Hazelwood Trees in Giant Forest were among the Top 20 list until lightning and fire damaged them. They were removed from Flint's list because the loss appeared to be fatal. However, they have been re-entered on the list (at their new lower volumes) as they are once again producing new foliage.
