#51 Dogwood Meadow Leaner, Mountain Home
The Dogwood Meadow Leaner is a huge 25.4 feet in diameter at the ground, 22.8 feet diameter at chest height, and 272 feet tall. The tree is growing from a huge mound of duff about 4 feet higher than the surrounding ground level. The duff accumulation is so large as to make periphery numbers impossible to take and almost meaningless. The mound was not added to the volume, by the way. The tree is leaning steeply in toward the meadow and makes you worry about how long it can stand at that angle before it ends up as a causeway across the moist area some rainy year.
