Bonsai, Mountain Home Grove

The Bonsai Tree is nearly 21.7 feet in diameter level at the ground, 18.5 feet in diameter at breast height from the high side ground, and 185 feet tall. Although not the largest tree in the grove, it may be the most visually striking tree in the forest.  It grows out of a rocky ridge top, so it will never be the tallest or the biggest in the grove. However, its many large low-hanging branches make it perhaps the most stunning.

The Bonsai Tree is one of the greatest of the many tragedies of the Castle Fire of 2020. It burned for over a year after the fire. Below are some pics of it in June, approximately eight months after the fire. It was still burning at that time and caved in further until about a year after the fire, when the final large limbs fell--still actively on fire. Now it's only half as tall, as the below of it stands as a broken snag only.
