Red Hill Grove is home to the following big sequoias or groups of sequoias:
Burly Party of Seven Red Hill Giant Red Hill Survivor
This grove is spread along a couple of miles of the area along the Crawford Road between Peyrone and Black Mountain. Its reported largest tree fell victim to the Windy fire in 2021, in which it lost a significant portion of its largest trees. It still contains a number of large old monarchs, however, and most of it is relatively close to the road and accessible with short walks.
Its former largest tree, the Red Hill Giant of approx 33k cubic feet, looks to be almost totally denuded of branches and has only the slightest amount of green left on its very top. It doesn't look like it will long survive the fire. The second largest tree in it that I have actually measured measures approximately 28k cubic feet.
Below are some pics of the groves monarchs: Burly, Red Hill Survivor, and a couple of pics of the former largest in the grove.
