Hercules, Mountain Home Grove

The Hercules Tree is nearly 27.4 feet in diameter level at the ground, 22.6 feet in diameter at breast height from the high side ground, and 167 feet tall. Its signature characteristic is the 12 x 12 x 9-foot carved room cut into it with awls by an early pioneer in the late 1800s. In spite of two major fires and the hollowing, the tree seems to be still growing and amazingly healthy.
