The Stonehenge Snag is a large, dead skeleton of a tree, maybe the largest and most complete still-standing one that I have seen. It is just over 20 feet in diameter level at the base and 248 feet tall, and with almost no bark left it measures approximately 25,600 cubic feet of volume. Typically large sequoia snags perish from either fire or toppling over, so this specimen is both impressive and quite unusual. It is located a couple tenths of a mile down the hill to the west from the Stonehenge Camp in the upper portion of Garfield Grove.
