Large Sequoia near Bannister Tree, Freeman Creek Grove
This Tree is 19.8 feet in diameter level at the high side ground, 17.2 feet DBH, and 210 feet tall. Freeman Creek is home to many substantial sized trees in its huge expanse. It lives in one of the nicest dozen acres of sequoias that you can see with minimal hiking. It is in the bottom of the meadow where there is a stand of really peaceful and beautiful big sequoias that rival any grouping out there. Nearby is the Bannister, a big leaner tree, a hollow chimney/telescope tree, some fallen carcassas, and half a dozen perfect standing giants, and all are within a twenty-minute walk of the car. Add to that it’s not really on the tourist roadmap, so not very busy, and you have a truly idyllic location.
