#12 John Adams, Giant Forest
The John Adams Tree is 25 feet in diameter at the ground, 21 feet at breast height, and 250 feet tall. It is the sixth largest tree in the Giant Forest; however, since this grove has so many of the largest sequoias, sixth largest is plenty impressive and bigger than most groves have to offer. It's not on any trail, and for that reason it is often misidentified as other trees. There is a sequoia close to it that's nearly as large and often mistaken for the John Adams; that tree is shown in the Honorable Mentions section of our list as False John Adams.
