The Hercules Tree is nearly 27.4 feet in diameter level at the ground, 22.6 feet in diameter at breast height from the high side ground and 167 feet tall. Its signature characteristic is the 12x12x9 foot carved room in it cut with awls by an early pionneer in the area. It was carved into the tree in the late 1800's and in spite of two major fires and the hollowing the tree seems to be still growing and amazingly healthy.
