#7 Franklin, Giant Forest
The Franklin Tree is 30 feet in diameter at the ground, 22 feet at breast height, and 224 feet tall. It was not put on any of the largest trees lists until Wendell Flint measured it in the 1950s, possibly because of its proximity to the larger Washington Tree. If it were located in any other grove, it would certainly have been enough of a standout to have been noticed much earlier.
