While not a grove containing any of the largest champion trees Deer Creek was formerly a fine example of a small sequoia grove. It was the victim of the 2021 Windy Fire and the sequoias in its environs reportedly took approximately a 50% mortality in the big trees. The devastation is incredible and having seen it a year after the fire i would agree with the assessment i've heard of a loss of 50% of the sequoia trees. It is at least that high by my estimation.
