#78 Bull Buck, Nelder Grove
The Bull Buck Tree is 31.5 feet in diameter at the ground, 26.5 feet diameter at chest height, and 239 feet tall. It is a beautiful tree, completely undamaged by the elements or fire and has an astonishing 100-foot circumference at the ground on almost-level sward. It was measured in 1975 in a bid for the largest tree slot; however, that didn't go well because the tree's volume didn't even come close. Its lower bole and crown spread are phenomenally large, but the tree tapers quite a bit in its midsection.
Its name comes from the logging industry. The bull bucker is the chief bucker of the operation. Fellers cut down the trees, then buckers section the fallen pieces.
