#5 Alonzo Stagg, Alder Creek
The Alonzo Stagg Tree is 35 feet in diameter at the ground, 23 feet diameter at chest height, and 243 feet tall. It was probably first discovered by A. L. Day in 1931 and subsequently seen in 1932 by a member of the old Jourdan team, who noticed its significant size. That team was formed in the late 1920s to measure trees in the Tulare and Fresno Counties to determine which had the largest tree.
